Training disabled people to take and promote measures for the protection of the environment and Climate Change

In the context of the “Save Our Planet” project, training activities were organised in Adiyaman and online, concerning the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change. These training activities took place in Turkey on the 14th to the 17th April 2022 and were implemented by the Turkish Partner, Adiyaman Belediyesi.
The “Saving Our Planet” project aims to raise public awareness on issues related to Environmental Protection. To achieve this goal, appropriate “volunteers” who belong to the group of people with mobility difficulties will be trained to in turn educate and sensitize others on Environmental Protection issues.
Using the training material that was developed for the “Save Our Planet” project, these training activities were implemented with great success, with the participants reporting very positive feedback. The feedback was also used to further improve upon the training material.
During this three day session, the participants learned about the different parts that our environment consists of (lithosphere, hydrosphere etc.) and the different kinds of pollution affecting our environment such as “light pollution” and “sound pollution” and others.
Finally, they were given knowledge on different methods that could be used in order to address environmental issues and prevent climate change.
The training activities ended with a dinner for all the participants and their families, at which they could discuss what they learned and express their opinions in a non-formal setting.
The organisation and implementation of the training activities by Adiyaman Belediyesi, were done according to the proposal and were very successful.
