The Hermit Crab (Pagurus sp.) and Anemone (Calliactis parasitica), live exclusively in empty shells. They have a symbiotic relationship, meaning that they live together helping each other. As the hermit crab moves, it also carries around the shell with the anemones that are attached to it. In this way the anemone collects its food from different areas. In return, the anemone provides the hermit crab with camouflage and protection from its predators, such as octopus and larger crabs.
